BNB Volunteers

Section 1:
  1. Volunteers will:

    1. Be current military ID cardholders (active duty, retiree, DOD civilian, active duty reservist, active duty national guardsman and/or their dependents who are in possession of a current military ID card and are fifteen years or older). Exceptions shall be made at the discretion of the Board.
    2. Volunteers must work the equivalent hours of 1 full business day per month to maintain their volunteer status.
  2. Volunteers are subject to all rules of membership and consignment except as outlined in the SOP, Appendix B: Article II, Section 2 that is an addendum to these bylaws.
  3. Policies governing volunteers are detailed in the SOP, Appendix B: Article II, Section 2 that is an addendum to these bylaws.

Section 2: Policies Governing BNB Volunteers Volunteer benefits are underlined and marked with a *.

  1. Volunteers must train with BNB Management or their delegate prior to working with consigned items or on the sales floor.
  2. Volunteers will not bring children to the BNB while they are volunteering. Children ages 13 or older must be an approved volunteer and be scheduled to work that day. Exceptions for children age 10 or older may be made at the discretion of BNB Management and with the approval of the Board.
    1. All children ages 10 and older must be a registered youth volunteer with Fort Bragg Youth Volunteer Services.
    2. All children ages 10 and older shall be advised to attend the youth volunteer orientation provided by Fort Bragg Youth Volunteer Services.
  3. *Childcare
    1. Childcare for volunteers on duty will be reimbursed/paid by check.
    2. BNB will only pay based on recorded volunteer time + 1/2 hour travel time not to exceed an amount equal to CDC rates.
  4. *Volunteers will be not be required to pay a withdrawal fee on items consigned if they withdraw those items on a day they are scheduled to volunteer for at least ½ of the business day (2 hours).
  5. *Volunteers on duty have first choice on items being newly tagged for sale.
    1. No more than four choices of consigned items (and/or 4 donated items) in one day are allowed to be held for purchase by each volunteer per workday.
    2. Additional purchases must be made when or if an item is placed on the sales floor.
    3. In the event that more than one volunteer wants the same item, names will be placed in a container and drawn to determine which volunteer may purchase the item.
    4. These items must be paid for immediately upon completion of the volunteer shift. Otherwise, the items will be placed on the sales floor.
  6. Volunteers are responsible for documenting their volunteer hours in the BNB Volunteer Log.
  7. Volunteers are requested to register with www.myarmylifetoo.com so that they may submit their monthly hours once advised by BNB Management.
  8. Volunteers will treat all customers, employees, and other volunteers with courtesy and respect.
  9. Volunteers who are reprimanded by the BNB Management will be counseled and documentation placed in their file regarding the violation. (A copy of the reprimand will be given to the CEO for review and approval.)
  10. *Volunteers must start their work volunteer time by 11:00 am to participate in volunteer privileges for that day.
    1. Volunteers who wish to consign on their volunteer day must arrive to allow time for their items to be checked in prior to 11:00 am.
    2. If the volunteer arrives after the shop has opened, they should see BNB Management to check-in their consignment.
  11. *A volunteer may only consign a maximum of 210 items per month (unless under PCS orders or unless issued a BNB Special Privileges card by BNB Management).
  12. *Volunteers may consign double the number of items allowed to consignors on any given day. (maximum 30 items per volunteer day)
  13. Volunteer hours may not include any personal time (i.e. business, consigning, withdrawing items, lunch, shopping, etc.).
  14. Volunteers must leave break room neat and clean.
    1. *Bottled water, coffee, tea bags, sugar, creamer, and limited food items will be provided by the BNB.
    2. Food/drink shall not be allowed in the consignment or tagging areas.
    3. All food/drink left in the refrigerator or the break room shall be disposed of at the discretion of BNB Management.
  15. Volunteers may not leave any personal belongings at the BNB unless the belongings are under consignment. Any property left will be considered a donation to the BNB.
  16. Volunteers will leave their work areas neat and free of any debris
  17. Volunteers may not pull other consignor's items from the sales floor under any circumstances except when specifically directed to by BNB Management.
  18. Volunteers will dress neat in appearance. No bare midriffs will be allowed.
  19. Volunteers must wear a BNB volunteer nametag (as issued) while working.
  20. Volunteers will not post any items to any bulletin board, wall, or window of the BNB.
  21. On days the BNB is open for business volunteers will park in the parking lot behind the BNB building (between buildings 2-2411 and 2-2412) and not on the grass or in front of the BNB building.
  22. Volunteers will meet as needed with BNB Management and the Volunteer Officer or their designated representative to discuss changes, concerns, procedures, and recommendations. Time of meeting will be at the discretion of BNB Management and the Board.
  23. Volunteers should address any immediate concerns, recommendations, or questions to the Volunteer Officer.
